  1. What is the visitors fee to join the library and what time period does it cover. We will be in Holmes Beach Jan 1 thru April 1, 2011.

    1. Great question, thank you. If you are a visitor it is $20 per year to join the Holmes Beach Library. That covers one 12 month rolling period. If you can show a lease or that you own in the area the membership is free. The library defines that as living here more than 6 months. I hope that helps?

    1. Great question! Normally in high season which is March. I would give the Holmes Beach, FL library a call and do you mind letting us all know? 941 778-6341

  2. Is there a limit time you can be on the computer? Will be staying in Holmes Beach in March for a couple of weeks and will need to complete my finals while I’m there. I’m sure I will need to be on longer then a hour at a time. Please let me know ASAP. Thank you

    1. Yes, there is a time limit you can be on the computer and I believe it is just an hour at a time. It is just like most libraries where you sign up on a list and wait your turn for a computer to free up. If I recall correctly you enter in your Library card code and it might even kick you off after an hour. Of course it is fine if there is no one else there waiting to get on a computer. I would not count on the library if you need large chunks of time. The County about 1 year ago cut back hours at the Holmes Beach library and there are less hours available. Due to the high tourist population in March the library is normally very very busy so I would not plan on the library. If you have a laptop I would bring that and see the wireless hotspots we have on our blog. If you cannot bring a laptop then I would suggest calling Island Real Estate for a vacation rental that has a computer included. We have several but can tell you normally those vacation rentals are 5 star properties. If you have any additional questions we can help, email info(atsign)IslandReal.com – good luck on your tests!

    1. Hi Betty –

The public library has printers for you to use but not a fax machine. Any of Island Real Estates guests are welcome to use the computer and fax machine at our office in Holmes Beach.

      Hope this helps.

  3. How do I get e-books downloaded to my IPAD. I have a library card. 2 3950 00185 6912

thank you in advance for responding.

  4. We will be there from June 23 – July 7. What are your library hours and you have books on cd to checkout?

    Thank you,
    Erin

    1. Hi Erin,

Unfortunately the Holmes Beach library is closed for renovations until further notice. The tingley library in Bradenton Beach is open however.

    1. Maureen,
The public library is currently closed for renovations until further notice. I am unsure whether or not the library in Bradenton Beach has a book club, but their phone number is listed in the blog post so if you wanted to know I’m sure you could call and ask.

Thank you for your comment and sorry for the inconvenience!
      -Billy

      1. The library will open on Oct. 17th at 3:30 p.m., and it will resume regular business hours the following day. Can’t wait to see what $200K in renovations got us!

  5. Good day, I have a question and I need some help if possible. First of all my name is Nick and I am from the Netherlands. I am an dedicated researcher of the 4th US Infantry Division during World War 2. With this hobby I also visit many battlefields the 4th US ID fought, mostly with an metal detector looking for lost artifacts, like personal belongings and equipment that was left behind in 1944/1945. Early this year I found an US messkit/canteencup which was personalized, it had the name “Gimpel” on it. There I have many archives from the 4th US ID and thus rosters of this unit, I found “Gimpel” back in the list of the 22nd Infantry Regiment / Anti Tank Company. His full name and rank was Private GIMPEL, James N from Glendale Queens / New York born on 5.17.1918. During extensive research on the Internet I found out he later moved to 34216 Anna Maria, Manatee, Florida. He died on 25.2.1993 at the age of 74 years old. His army service number was found on NARA as being: 32023673. With this my information stops and I wasn’t successful to find anything else of him. I am very curious to know if he had children or other related family still alive. Therefore my posting and need for help on this website, if this is not the right place for my question I apologize. Does somebody know if he still has family alive today? I would very much like to come in contact with them. Any help is appreciated and I would be forever thankful. My best regards, Nick.

      1. Hello Andrew, I thank you for your answer. I already have contacted them through the contact form on their website. I wish you my best regards – from the Netherlands. Nick
